She wrote —quoting her words— "I think we are all people, regardless of our race...", then she wrote that she wanted that even if the character was Hispanic or Asian, that everyone could give them the same chance that they would give the book if the main character was Caucasian.Sometimes there are people that think they are better just because of they skin (for God's Sake! Their skins!) or because of the place they where born, or because of their parents, or maybe for their eyes' colour, and to be honest that's fool.
I think that everyone is special, that everyone has talents, and I think with all I am that we are worthy not for how we look or for where we come from but for what we show and for what we truly are. I could be the queen's daughter—or the queen herself—, but if I were an arsehole I would hate myself.
I don't like when someone talks bad about indigenous because people talk about them as if they were all the same; people talk about indigenous as if they were fool but they aren't. My father's one, he comes from a village in Quiché, and you know what? He is bilingual, he talks his mother language and Spanish. He started to work when he was really young and he studied, he paid his studies, and he helped his sisters; now he has a business, he knows many people, he is respected, and he comes from a little town in Quiché. And I feel really proud of him.
He sometimes tells us that he used to be ashamed from where he came, and that when anyone asked him from where he was he used to say he was from Guatemala City, but then he understood that people would laugh at him just if he wasn't proud from where he came and who he was.I think everyone should feel proud from where they come from and for who they are, but sometimes people are afraid of the others laughing at them, just as my father was, and I don't think that's OK. Everyone should learn that we are all the same on a way. We are all people, human beings. There shouldn't be anyone afraid of saying who they are.
Sometimes people think they are better, and because they think they are better they treat others bad, and that's not the way. If you are good in something you should take what you know and help others to improve. If you don't like something or you don't have the same opinion as someone else you can let them know but you have to respect their opinions, too.
I like what Dumbledore says: "It is our choices that show us what we truly are far more than our abilities." isn't that the key? Who's better? The one that has everything but is an arsehole? Or the one that is humble and knows when to help others? It isn't about our abilities, it isn't about our race, it isn't about from where we are. It IS about what we choice to do, how we choice to treat others that shows how valuable we are.
I don't think we should reject those ones that are different to us. I don't think we should treat them worse than how we would treat someone that is similar to us.
Do you think that because someone is different we should treat them differently to the others? Do you think you are treating someone incorrectly?
wow your keyla this very interesting subject and the truth is that you are quite right
ReplyDeleteThank you! This is a topic I'm really interesting in and that's the why I wrote it.
DeleteWe have to accep each people how they are..
ReplyDeleteExactly! Acceptance is the first step for humanity to a better world.
DeleteWow! I love your blog, and it´s really true, I don´t understand why the people discriminate the people, we are humans, is obvious that we are not going to be the same. And sometimes the same people of Guatemala are ashame about their roots, and feel proud of something that is happening in another country, I think that we have to be proud of who we are and from where we come from.
ReplyDeleteThank you! And that's the point. Why should we be proud of what happens on other countries instead of being proud of what happens on our country? Yeah, it is true that there are so many bad things here, but shouldn't we do a change? :D

ReplyDeleteWe aren't better or worse just for the way we look but for the quality of people we are. I mean about how we treat everyone, that's what shows who we truly are.
